There will be club sea kayak paddling trips offered in Morbihan, France and nearby from Wednesday 29 May to Sunday 2 June. We have chosen the dates so that we have the best tides, which is HW in the middle of the day.
The paddling standard required is Explore upwards. Paddlers should be able to paddle at least 8 miles a day, in relatively calm conditions.
People wishing to paddle on the club trips will be required to have travel insurance.
For information Brian and I am going on the Brittany ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff on Monday 27 May at 10pm, and returning on Monday 3 June at 3pm. We will be staying at the following campsite in Mobile-homes
https://camping-vannes.com/en/accomodation-pitches/
Paddlers are responsible for booking their own travel and accommodation, and may be able to find people to share arrangements.

I too am really looking forward to this trip.
Lynn and I are planning to join you. We will be taking our car and can carry a club sea kayak for me and one other. (Lynn will be sailing) We may either go earlier - and/or stay a bit longer
Mike /Tom.
re the overhang, I rang up and they said you can do it online, but it appears not! need the full length of the vehicle with boat on
I'm in
We are also being asked about the height of the vehicle by Brittany Ferries. What do people think about transporting a sea kayak sitting on a pair of fat swimming noodles laid on the car roof? Strapped on with a couple of ratchet straps. This would reduce the overall height a bit.
Ok thanks Brian. I have roof bars and uprights. I will come down and do a trial loading and measuring session this week.
Hi all, This is a cheeky request, would anyone going on the Morbihan trip be able and willing to transport a club kayak for me both ways?
We have just heard that because major house renovations on our house are about to start we will have to be out of our from from 1st April for a few months. So we would be travelling to and from London rather than Exeter on this trip. Also as we will staying on in France to do some cycling for a week or so this would mean that the kayak would get back to the club and could be used there.
Of course we are happy compensate anyone for the extra trouble. Will
Hi all,
We have booked both our crossings with kayak on top included. I'm unsure if I will be able to join any other sea kayak activities here before the trip as I will be out of Exeter from 12th April now. Please could someone with more experience of previous EEC trips call me on 07946 625957 about some details. Thanks Will
@RobPrice are you getting the 10pm on 27/5?
@Willembliss will you be getting the same ferry?
Hi @MikeB yes I think we are getting same ferry as you.
@JaneEvans, I have a question about sports insurance. We are covered under Insure4Sport, but currently this is only for within the UK. Do I need to purchase worldwide/European cover before we travel?
Hi Anna
Yes you do need travel insurance for the trip that covers France. This means that the leaders of the trips would not have to use their own resources to look after you if there was a problem, your travel insurance would cover it.
Hi Anna
The paddling will all be club trips so I will add you as PUK club associates, and your paddling liability will be covered by the club's insurance which is worldwide.
Hi MikeB No we are getting a Monday 27th early morning ferry from Portsmouth. Will anyone be loading kayaks on Sunday 26th morning at the club? I am still unsure which kayak I will take as the club has bought some LV ones since I was last there. So would like a quick try out for comfort. Do I just take any club kayak I want. My mobile number is 07946 625957. Maybe we should make a what's app group for the trip?
No whatsapp. Forum is fine.
I will be on first part of my holiday so wont be around. Take whatever you are happy with club boat wise.
For the record, I hate the idea of Whatsapp and as Chrristina will already know, I am hopeless at it!!! .... BUT ... I do think a Whatsapp group would be a good idea for the trip. The Forum will get fed up of domestic messages that will inevitably happen whilst we are travelling and out there such as meeting places, what time we are meeting each day, who needs a lift where etc.
I won't put whatsapp on my phone, as I cannot have my contacts list swept by Meta.
Thanks so much Jane for organising.
Thinking about your comment Nigel... I'm happy to join a WhatsApp group to help with travel coms (e.g panicked messages asking for postcode of ferry terminal ๐as last year going to Jersey) . But not covering any kayak planning/logistics etc. I also cannot always see emails when traveling and sometimes it's helpful to have an instant response which is unlikely on this forum.
This would be for travel logistics only. See many of you on Monday on the ferry? Never driven in France before so a bit excited
