Update - it is possible that I may need to update the first launch point because there are launching and paddling restrictions on the river between Glasbury and Hay on Wye. Navigation on the upper sections is restricted when water levels are low. I …
Maggie. Just seen this after Mike B mentioned it tonight. Unfortunately I have not been following the thread and I will be rescue boat driving on the river Exe so can’t join you. Pity.
Maggie. We can sort final logistics nearer the time however if you don’t mind an early start, you could leave your car at your planned end point and I could intercept you and your boat and drive you to the start.
August probably suits me better. Do you have a preference on which week? My thought would be to start mid week to get out of sync with others on the river (more space in campsites) and it gives the option for people to join the end section over a lo…
If you are still up for the drive to Salcombe can I suggest that you get to me for 7.15 and then we should still be able to catch the tide most of the way to Kingsbridge. (This will be the full scenic trip). If you only want an exercise paddle and l…
Dave. Normally I would say yes and sign up however we had already scheduled a family walk on Sunday. I will continue to monitor the forum if you decide to run a second trip on the Monday (recognising the comments already made on the weather).
Picking up on Maggie’s comments about getting out to train midweek if you have time off on the week and the weather forecast looks good, please do not be afraid to use this forum to advertise your intent/desire to get out and on the sea. I have muc…
Great day out today. Lovely conditions. Great fun weaving between the rocks before heads down and into a modest breeze for 20 minutes to warm up those arms. A conveyor belt back with the wind and tide behind us. Then a loop up river to Dittisham and…
If Jane and Laura are travelling together I will see you down there. If Stuart or Rich are reading this thread and fancy coming along we can car share from my place. 8.00 am at my place.
Jane. I was thinking of doing the same but you have beaten me to it. As you say, the strong winds forecasted for the end if the week drop on Sunday. I am very flexible in the location and happy to drive.
I have updated this trip to be an estuary exploring trip only. The updated forecast is still showing a 2M swell in the mouth of the Estuary. The wind is moderate so we should still be ok in the Estuary
If anyone else wants to sign up on a provisional basis this will be fine. Yesterday the forecast looked good for this trip. The current forecast would make this trip unviable with 25kt gusts and 1.9M swell. I will continue to monitor through the wee…
Nigel. Just spoken to Jane. She is not going to be back until very late tonight. Sea conditions not looking great with wind picking up and drizzle. We agreed to cancel this trip tomorrow. Let’s just wait for nicer weather. Jane asked me to post this…
I had been slightly hanging on to check the river levels in the Dart on Sunday however it looks to be hovering at about 0.4 so getting close to a scrape. Unless we have a sudden change in weather please count me in.
Jason. Don’t worry about shuttles. You drop your boat at the start and then drop your car at the finishing line. The Axe Vale club organise the return shuttle back to the start line at no cost
Just bring this back to the top of the chat. A fun morning with lunch provided. The entry is on an individual basis. Paddlers of all abilities can manage this course. You just go at your own pace.
