August Bank Holiday Weekend 29-31 August Falmouth SK trip CANCELLED

There will be a sea kayak weekend in Falmouth. There will be various trips offered each day, according to the weather conditions and what people want to do. To come on this trip you need to be at Explore standard or above, and to be able to paddle a minimum of 8 miles a day. This is an ideal trip for new club sea kayakers.
Please also make sure that you have found a comfortable boat, and that you have made a note of which boat it is.
Camping at Tregedna Farm, near Falmouth. https://tregednafarmholidays.co.uk/

Sea kayaking with trips for all standards. The only requirement is that we meet at 9am each morning to plan the trips for the day. I expect that people will start arriving at the campsite on Friday evening from c 5pm, but that is for each person to decide for themselves. There are good beaches at Swanpool and Maenporth within half a mile of the campsite.
Camping: I have booked us into the campsite and we will pay cash £13.50 pppn when we are there. Please bring cash for the campsite and for parking. National Trust cards are useful if you are a member as they have some car parks. If you want an elec hookup or a caravan space please book directly.

Sadly we have had to ****cancel ****this trip, please see Richard's post on page 2.

If you would like to come please reply to this email.

Yes please can I book me and Anna on I want the yellow avocet LV! Can’t wait!
  • Yes - I wouldn't miss it! Own boat

  • Blue Atlantic LV for Anna please
  • And Tom is coming 😃 with his own boat
  • @Evelyn Gawen who is Anna?
  • Evelyn might have jumped the gun a little on this, but Anna's the one I mentioned the other day who's been waiting for the new membership year to roll around and the new rates to be finalised before signing up.

She's got a good level of general fitness, has paddled the canal and flat river before (and a session of surf kayak!), and is joining some friends trips in the next few weeks, once she sorts out membership. (I'll step up and lead them if she doesn't sort insurance out by then.) She's also hoping to join a course and some sea trips between now and August, work and other obligations permitting.

Her husband has his own boat(s) and paddles with Paignton, so we might persuade him to sign up too.

  • Cheers Tom
  • After using it today the Orange North Shore

  • I'd like to come! The blue avocet LV for me
  • One of the highlights of the summer I am in ! Own boat

Pink sportif for me please. If someone else needs this boat I can sort a different one.
  • Hi I'd like to come with the family so might not paddle with the group both days.

  • I will join with my own boat.
  • I’ll join this trip.

  • I’d love to come but would need to borrow a small club boat ☺️
  • I’m up for this trip. We had a great time last year. I will need an LV too.
  • I'd like to join again please - will work out the boat in time as I realise people might have much stronger preferences/needs than me.
I would however need to ask someone to transport the boat please
Looking forward to it again! Thanks for organising
  • I would love to do this

  • Can I be a tentative, own kayak, kit and transport but need to secure the time off domestic/family duties unless they join the camping too - decision nearer the time, Natasha (new member).
  • I would also love to join this trip please. I’m a new club member this year - and would need a boat (could potential share transport with Natasha if she is able to make it). I have previously camped and done a sea kayaking expedition from Tregedna with SKC. Great location!
  • I am hoping it is OK to put this here but over the paddling weekend I am aiming to see this theatre group. I have been many times. They perform in the woods and it is all a bit crazy. Just wondered if anyone wanted to join me. Take a look https://rogueotherworld.co.uk/
  • That looks interesting Laura! I'd be interested
  • I'll join for paddling on Sat and Sun please. I'll need a club boat and of the ones left, the LV Delphin or Virgo are okay for me. Thanks

  • Laura I'd be interested in the theatre thing too! Looks fun
