Mondays 7 and 14 March, Mondays 4 and 11 April Navigation classes UPDATED

I and Brian, if he is available, will be running some navigation training evenings at the club. This set provides priority for people who were not able to obtain place on the course in October.

The first two weeks will be for OS map skills. The second two weeks for navigation chart skills. It is not necessary to attend the OS maps evenings if you are already experienced in using OS maps including bearings.

Monday 7 March and Monday 14 March OS maps with grid references, bearings, compass work etc. Club room 7pm

Monday 4 April and Monday 11 April Navigation charts. Club room 7pm

If you own an OS map of Exeter and / or a compass please bring it, plus paper, pencil, eraser, ruler.

Maximum 8 people.
Please advise which weeks you would like to attend.

Mon 14 March
This evening will include an initial exercise to remind people of how to use bearings. Then an introduction to charts, eg what information is available on a chart. The evening will not include tidal crossings, this will be the content of the April evenings.

Monday 4 and 11 April You need some experience in map reading, use of compass and bearings to come on this course.

Monday 11 April This evening will go through the steps for planning a trip somewhere on the South Devon coast. Looking at the weather, the swell and the tide. If you have time look at the tides, weather and swell for Monday 11 April for the South Devon coast.
