Fri evening 19 July sea kayak paddle Teignmouth Updated

edited July 2024 in Friends Trips

This is a friends trip for experienced paddlers, probably at a local play spot.

We will go to play in the outgoing tide at Teignmouth. Peak flow c 8.30pm, but there is minimal swell forecast so the waves will not be big.

Aim to get to the car park near the RNLI station for 6.30pm. Teignmouth Lower Point car park, so we launch into the estuary. Loading bloats at the club at 5.15pm.

If anyone can meet me on Friday to load boats please reply.

  • Steph and I would be interested if you think we’ve got enough experience
  • This would be fun if anyone had space for a kayak for me
  • I hope to join you on this.

  • Happy to join.

  • Sorry Alex, this is a friends trip so it is not club activity. We are not allowed to take under 18s on a friends trip.
Keep an eye out for the Coastal SK group, as this is suitable for your standard of paddling.

  • I can help load boats on Friday from 5 onwards

  • I am interested
  • what time will you be loading boats?

  • Let's go for 5.15pm, as there will be commuter traffic.

  • Would you like me there but aren't bothered whether I can carry boats in which case I will drive straight from work with my car (no roof rack so can't carry boats) or should I ask Simon to bring the van over from work (can fit two boats on)?

  • There's very limited boat carrying capacity. Let's make a plan tomorrow evening at the club.

  • I'll join please. I already have an LV Sportiv and Virgo on my car and a full cohort of small person equipment if that suits anyone? Can pick someone up or go straight to the the launch point. If a different boat's needed, I can come to the club to swap.

  • hey Christina , this would suit me and i could meet you at the launch point ...which would be easier for me to get to, however if you need help with the boats Jane I am happy to come to the club?

  • Lucy I do need help with the boats so please come to the club at 5.15. We are collecting a boat for Shelley as well as ourselves.

  • OK see you there
  • Steph and I will be at the club to pick up boats too
  • I can't make it.
    Have a great sunny paddle.
  • Thanks for a lovely paddle! Really great to experience the power of an eddy round a harbour wall. Will definitely feel more prepared if I encounter something like that again. Also, doing a capsize in such as strong current was a "refreshing" experience as well. Sorry Steph steeling your description!
