Tues 26 Teignmouth 6pm

For those not paddled out over the BH weekend....

The intention is that Jane and I will again combine to offer an evening of skills focused paddling from Teignmouth back beach from 6pm.

Priority goes to Jane's Tues group, and as last week nominally 4 paddlers each, but we're likely to combine or swap.

We can build on skills you want to improve, or try something new.

Please also check again nearer the time as forecasts can change.

NB back beach, not Polly Steps, where some people went last week. Park by the lifeboat station in the lower car park.

  • I would like to come. I can load boats at 5pm on Tuesday.

  • Hello, I'd love to come. Sadly haven't managed to sort roof rack for Benji's van. Can anyone give me and a boat a life to Teignmouth please? I can help load boat Monday or Tuesday after 5pm.

  • Maggie, I'd like to come, please. @Kate_Halliday I can give you and a boat a lift.

  • Hi Maggie I would like to come but understand Janeโ€™s group has priority no worries if not enough space

  • I can make it but would need help with a roof rack space. No worries if no space.

  • So I think we have at least 3 who are keen on roll improvement for at least part of the session. That includes me as I want to improve my surf boat roll in the flat water. I will have both boats.
  • Hi I can take James and Connor. Meet 5.10pm at the club on Tuesday. I shall have an Atlantic LV and a sportive already loaded on my car.
  • I would be interested in coming, but would need a lift for my boat- one possible plan could be I could share a boat and try some rolling practice? Let me know if anyone would mind sharing a boat? ๐Ÿ˜ if not I will try and come another time. Sorry I havenโ€™t been able to make any of the other sessions Maggie. I havenโ€™t sorted my roll so would need some coaching? Let me know if that sounds possible โ˜บ๏ธ no worries if not
  • Thank you Jane, Evelyn's updated me and will still be coming tomorrow. Do you want me to meet you or take anything down from the club?
  • Hi Connor
Please can you confirm tat the glass Atlantic LV is a suitable boat for you? Also you need to take your paddle, BA and deck. Plus helmet and towline. If you can take all these there is no need to come to the club.

  • Hi Evelyn. I'm happy to coach, but obviously can only give one person full attention at a time. Hopefully some of the practice can be in buddy pairs.
  • Thanks Maggie, yes happy to buddy up. Maybe can bring some paddle floats as well as they are a good practice device for getting the hip flip motion. Everyone could do with bringing warm gear for when they are standing in the water if we do do that? Like wetsuits maybe if they are getting cold ๐Ÿ˜

Hi Jane, think Connar thinks that boat is fine. But will message him and tell him to respond ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks for organising a boat for him ๐Ÿ‘
  • Hi Jane yes that boat should be fine thank you! I'll pop into the club and grab those bits and meet you down there then!
  • Sorry but I canโ€™t make it tonight due to an injury while water skiing.
  • Evelyn, have you sorted out your boat situation?

I can fit in any LV technically and I think Jane has some of those already on her car - connar has already said he is happy to share his if no other options work ๐Ÿ‘ I have paddled the blue north shore Atlantic before so should be fine. Thanks Maggie
  • Evelyn, boat sharing isn't going to work, I'm afraid. We've tried it in the past and it's not effective. People get cold hanging around if they can't paddle to warm up. A sea rolling session is a bit different from the pool. Additionally, tonight's session will also very likely involve a journey within the estuary. Neither Jane nor I are keen on having people with partial kit that means they can't stay with the group. If you can't get a boat there it's going to have to be another evening. I can't help I'm afraid, I'm busy with work and don't have time to go via Exeter this week.
  • No worries ๐Ÿ‘
  • Come another time, and next time you're out on a journey paddle, ask if someone will give you ten mins at lunch or the end (people have more energy at lunch) to push that roll on a bit. The water will still be warm for a few months.
  • Okay no problem. Shame missed this year will try again for next. Itโ€™s having the coaching side as itโ€™s a tricky thing to learn. ๐Ÿ‘ sure it will work out when it is suppose to. Thank again Maggie ๐Ÿ‘
  • Sorry I won't make it today. But will return the Blue LV Valley Kayak plus kit to the club before 5pm

NB I think I left a tube of factor 50 suncream is in the Orange boat I was in yesterday. Please recover it. Thanks

  • I'll be there! Same as last week I'll make my own way there with my boat and would be grateful if someone (Jane?) could pick me up a helmet and towline.

  • Yes we'll bring helmet and towline.

  • Hi Jane, I'm so sorry something overran and I'm no longer able to make it. I'm really sorry!
