Experienced sea kayak paddle Saturday 22 April

edited April 2017 in Friends Trips
We are planning a sea kayak trip for experienced (3 star standard) paddlers.

The winds are not currently due to be strong, so we are thinking of Cornwall north coast around Boscastle but this could be changed to south coast depending on wind conditions. There could be some fast paddling and rock hopping. Helmets required. It is likely to be an 8.am start from the Club.

Details to follow;

If we do go to Boscastle, I am afraid that it is yet another low tide launch with low water at 08.45.

  • OK - current plan is meet at Boscastle at 10.00hrs in the main carpark. That will probably mean meeting at the Club about 8am. I do not plan to come into Exeter (however I have sent Tony a message and wonder whether the Waveski can be collected from the Club, if he wants to come).

    Wind is forecast to be light from the north. It may give us a bit a swell, but hopefully not enough to stop us getting into all of the caves. If we find it is a struggle, we can just go and enjoy the swell with some rock hopping. Please bring helmets. If conditions are good for caves, a head torch would be good!

    LW is at Boscastle 08.54 to a bit of a walk to launch kayaks - trolleys will be useful.

    Please post if you are coming.

  • Paul - can you bring the ski for Tony?
  • Yes no problem
  • Change of plan due to slightly stronger wind than initially forecast. Now paddling from Mountbatton to Wembury and possibly further. Meeting at Mountbatton at 10.30am.
  • I will probably not be home until 7.00 pm tonight and have some family commitments in the morning so all probably a bit rushed for me. If anyone fancies going out on Sunday I would be up for it. Owen
