South Devon Sea Kayak Weekend Trip 17/18 June

edited June 2017 in Friends Trips
A few of us are planning a 2 day sea kayak trip along the south Devon coast this weekend, leaving Saturday and arriving Sunday, with an overnight camp (from the sea kayaks) en-route. The exact locations have not yet been planned and I will update later.

To come on this trip, you must have paddled a loaded sea kayak before and camped from a kayak self sufficiently.

Depending on interest and route, we may be able to meet up on Sunday morning with people who want a day paddle who are at about 3 star standard.

Please express interest below saying whether you want to do the whole trip, or just Sunday…

  • As you know, I'm up for this

  • I'd like to join in on Sunday if the distance to the meeting point is not too far: I am restricted to driving for 45 mins or so at a time, so this may not work out.
  • The plan is paddle from Wembury to Salcombe with overnight wild camp around Ayrmer Cove. If people are interested in a Sunday one day paddle, we can meet in Inner Hope ready to be on the water at 10.30. The Sunday trip will be from Hope around Bolt Tail (timing critical to avoid tide race) to Salcombe. Paul, David and I have shuttle sorted, so any additional paddlers will need to sort out a shuttle. The Sunday paddle is quite a committing paddle and the current weather forecast suggests a light headwind but given the committing nature of the trip, and not many landing points, I would suggest that you would need to be a strong paddler to join.
  • Too far to drive for me to come on Sunday: have fun!

Tony. We should be able to help get the boat off the car at Hope if you are there by 10.15am. I am afraid that we can't help load for obvious reasons unless you come to the Club by 08.40 on Saturday morning, and we can load the boat for you. You would have to keep the boat on the roof overnight. We could do a quick shuttle for you at the end. Send me a text if you are coming.
  • Me and Betty can't make this. Arsecakes. Definitely of interest though. Have a lovely time so that we can do it again later in the summer ☺
